Summer is one of the most popular times to go on vacation. And whether you are spending a week at the shore or in a cabin by the mountains, we bet you’d like to take your air filter with you! It’s easy to take your air filter with you on summer vacation and a great way to keep your breathing comfortable and easy.

One of the biggest challenges of going to any new environment for an allergy or asthma sufferer if you wonder if something is going to trigger your allergies. Whether it is too much dust, a little mold in the air or someone’s pet that was staying there – a potential allergen could be lurking to bother you. Certainly not something any of us like to deal with on summer vacation.

If you are renting a house for vacation, it is very easy to bring your air purifier filter. Consider asking the people you are renting from if you can plug in your air filter. Air filters don’t use a lot of electricity so they likely won’t have any reason to say no to your request. Simply add it to your supplies when you pack the car. Remember to bring an extra air filter in case you wish to change it. Protect your air filter during travel by wrapping it securely, either in a box or surrounding it with towels or other protective padding.

If you are staying in a hotel or other location, you may want to ask if you can bring it. Some locations may be curious if you appear, ready to plug something in. But if you have gotten permission ahead of time to bring it, then it will be smooth sailing the whole way. It is far easier to ask ahead than it is to stand at check in and ask someone to consider your request.

If you are staying in someone’s home, you can probably bring your air filter. Ask them ahead of time. You are doing your host a kindness by bringing your air filter as an allergy or asthma sufferer because it means you will be more comfortable – and most hosts worry about their guests comfort. Ask them where you should plug it in.

Today’s air filters are comfortable and convenient. You can count on them to clean a large room and to be powerful and strong. They are not troublesome to carry with you on a vacation. While most of us don’t like to think of carrying our air filter everywhere, the thought of living without our air filters once we have one is often unimaginable.

The first time I brought my air filter on vacation my family fussed a little bit. One family member thought I was being a little particular by bringing it with me. But I knew that I would sleep so much better by having it with me. And I was glad that I did. We stayed in a cottage by the shore, with a bit of a mold problem. While everyone else was okay and just complained about the smell – I am allergic to mold. Without that air filter, I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy my vacation fully. With my antihistamine and the air filter, I could stay on vacation and spend time with my family.

No matter where you go, enjoy your vacation and we hope that you breathe a little easier with your air filter by your side.

It’s summertime – are you and your air filter ready? Summer is likely the hottest and most humid time of year you’ll ever see. For many with allergies and asthma, this is a very uncomfortable time. You want your air filter up and running and working at its full capacity. While springtime is the season, we think of for pollen – summer is still a stressful season for those with allergies and asthma. Aren’t you glad you have an air filter?

summer pollen

Try our summer tips for success to keep your air filter working great all summer long. Why before you know it, Labor Day will be here and you’ll be wondering where the summer has gone! Enjoy these great days of summer and we wish you easy breathing!

Give your air filter an easy job. Remember to vacuum your home regularly to pick up dust, pollen and pet hair. Once or twice a week is often ideal (check with your allergist or doctor for a more personalized suggestion for your condition). When your home is not vacuumed regularly, your air filter works extra hard, trying to pull all of those contaminants into it – so you are making it do far more work than it truly is cut out for!

Remember the space your air filter is able to clean. Every air filter is designed to clean a specific measurement. This information is in your instructions and sometimes on the box. During bad allergies, it can be tempting to move your air filter to different rooms to get relief, but sometimes you are frustrated as you don’t see quick results or the results you expect – this can be because your air filter is not designed to clean that large a space. Be fair to your air filter as it is working as hard as it was designed.

Stock up on extra air filters ahead of time. The worst time to realize you need a new filter is when your air filter is dirty. Then you often have to wait for one to be shipped out to – even with rush shipping this can take a few days and for an allergy sufferer that can be a long time. Don’t suffer, plan ahead. Order several air filters at once and keep them in your linen closet or other supply closet easy within reach. During bad allergy season, you may want to change air filters more often depending on usage.

Let guests know how the air filter works. Summer is often a time when we have family and friends staying with us. If you have loved ones staying with you, take the time to show them how the air filter works. They may be curious about the air filter and letting them know how it works will avoid them pressing the wrong button, or turning it off in an attempt to “help” you by saving energy. Not everyone realizes that your air filter should run all the time. Guests should know not to leave items on the air filter and not to drape things (like clothing or towels) in front of the air filter as it works.

If you’ve just gotten an air purifier/air filter, you’re not alone. With the increase in pollen today, many people are purchasing air filters to find relief. An air filter can help remove the pollen and other irritants from the air. This can give you great comfort whether day or night. But it is important for you to know how to take care of your air filter so that it gives you the best care at all times. Not taking care of your air filter properly means you won’t get the best out of it. Taken proper care of, your air filter can last a very long time.

Begin by reading the instruction manual that comes with your air filter. Each air filter is a little different and you want to get to know its specifics. If your air filter needs a new air filter every 3 months or every other month, this information will be in the instruction manual. While some people just don’t bother to read the instruction manual thinking, “This is boring,” this is a big mistake. There is valuable information in here that can help you keep this air filter you’ve just gotten for a very long time.

Don’t keep things on your air filter. It can be tempting to put a potted plant or overdue library books on your air filter. But don’t! Your air filter is already busy, with a big job of cleaning the air. It doesn’t have time to hold other things for you. Worst of all, you don’t want something to fall and somehow damage your air filter. Air filters are delicate in that they can have small parts. A potted plant that falls down the front and knocks off one of its knobs can damage it in a way that will only frustrate you. Avoid this circumstance by not leaving a potted plant on your air filter.

Keep track of when you need to put in a new air filter. Most air filters will tell you when they have to put one in. like every other month or every three months. Write it on the calendar that you need to change the air filter. Order your air filters a few at a time so you have them on hand easy to change them. Don’t be waiting for an air filter in the mail when you need a fresh one. It is far easier to order two or three of them and keep them in the closet and then to change them as you need them. Make things easier for you. This way you also won’t make your air filter work harder through a dirty air filter that should have been changed.

Every air filter can clean a certain space properly. This is important to keep in mind. You are making a big mistake if you try to ask your air filter to clean a much larger space all the time. Your air filter simply won’t be able to clean that larger air space properly and you’ll be disappointed with the results. Its like asking your compact car to be a school bus – just because you’d like it to be one! An air filter is a powerful machine, cleaning the air dozens or hundreds of times every hour, removing the irritants that bother your allergies. Pushing your machine beyond its capacity is asking too much of it and wont get you the results you desire. Always measure the space you want to put your air filter. Or if you want to put an air filter in another space too, look into getting that other air filter – as you already know you are getting great results from the first machine!

Many children suffer from allergies or asthma. Giving your child an air filter can be an excellent idea. When your child has an air filter in their room, you’ll know that they are breathing just a bit easier. An air filter removes irritants like pollen and dust from the air. Isn’t it wonderful knowing you can provide your allergic child with cleaner air to breathe?

Adding an air filter to their room can help them to sleep deeper and easier. How often are parents frustrated with children who just won’t sleep? Whether it seems they wont settle down or just aren’t ready to go to bed, it can be hard to get them to go to sleep. And any parent can have great sympathy for an allergic child. But what a change when you add an air filter to your allergic child’s room. The allergic child is suddenly breathing cleaner air and can breathe much better. This means it is easier for them to take deep breaths that lead to gentle and restful sleep. Their sleep is also deeper and more restorative. So you’ll have the experience of them waking up in the middle of the night less often. What a pleasure it is to have your allergic child to sleep through the night!

Every allergic child it seems catches colds or bronchitis easily. This can be so frustrating to watch and experience. No one likes to watch their child suffer. But adding an air filter can often mean that your child suffers for less time. When your child breaths air that is filtered, it can remove germs from the air. If they have a cold or bronchitis, it seems that they recover quicker. If you have a family member who is sick then the chances of that allergic child of getting sick are less likely.

Many children with asthma find they are bothered by things like cigarette or perfume that a child can’t control. With an air filter, you are more prepared for out of town guests that could be staying in your home. These odors often trickle through the house and while you can always ask someone to put out a cigarette or not to put on perfume, someone who is a smoker or often wears perfume will carry these odors with them. Your child will be more comfortable and feel less allergic with their own air filter. An excellent idea if you have a regular family member or friend like this is to consider getting an air filter for the guest room to help clear that air too. That will make your child even more comfortable, as it clears the guest’s air also. You can consider getting an air filter for the family room or living room too. These are excellent choices for company and are smart moves when you have company and a child with allergies or asthma.

An air filter is not a magic bullet. The parent and child still need to manage a child’s allergies and asthma well. But an air filter can remove a great deal of the child’s suffering. This can make them feel better. Whether during the day playing with their toys or at nighttime and trying to sleep, the air filter is working. Best of all, the air filter is peaceful and quiet making very little noise. So it isn’t a noisy machine that will keep your child up with a lot of fuss. A child simply won’t notice the air filter very much, except that they feel better. Isn’t that great?

With spring allergy season here, many allergy and asthma sufferers may be thinking about getting an air filter for the first time. If you are thinking about getting an air filter, you’ll be pleased to know that these machines are quieter, more convenient and even more powerful than ever. Best of all you’ll enjoy better breathing, a higher quality of air, improved vitality, sounder sleep, stronger focus and deeper relaxation during the day. Yes, an air filter has many benefits. But buying one may seem kind of overwhelming to some. There are so many to choose from. And they do so many different things. How do you pick the right one? Let’s talk about some things you should know before you go shopping for that first air filter.

Air filters work by cleaning the air in a location rapidly a certain number of times every hour. Now different machines will give you a different number – but often the number is high (like 10 times an hour) as these machines work quickly. The key to remember always with an air filter is that they will only clean a certain space according to width and length. That they just can’t clean any size of a location. So you need to get the air filter machine ideal for the space you need it for. You don’t need to get a “bigger” machine for the area you want, thinking it will do a better job. Air filters today are quite strong and the machine suited for your specific area will work perfectly. Simply measure the room or area and use these measurement as you go shopping. If you don’t have a tape measure. Walk the room with average steps and most of your steps are about a foot in length for a 6 foot or shorter person. if you are taller, consider your steps to be larger and adjust the measurements.

Some air filters purify some irritants and other do not. This confuses shoppers as some think that an air filter is an air filter. But there are quite a number of different machines available today. Some air filters will remove pollen from the air. Others will remove mold spores and dust. Some can remove bacteria. Others can remove smoke (like cigarette smoke). Check the label or box to see exactly what this machine does and if it meets your needs. Each person has certain desires for their air filter. The person allergic to cats may want it to remove pet dander and not be concerned with other needs. Someone whose mother in law smokes and visits occasionally may want it to remove smoke. Or someone with severe allergies may want it to do everything. Again, you want to find the air filter machine that meets your needs. The best way to do this is to read the label.

Your air filter machine is going to work best when you follow the instructions. This sounds very simple but you’d be surprised at the folks who just ignore this. If your air filter’s instructions say to replace the air filter every three months, then follow this guideline. It is there to assist you with your allergy or asthma. If your air filter machine has certain suggestions about where to put it, then follow these guidelines. Some air filters will say not to put anything on top of them. Your air filter is a busy machine, working at purifying the air. It does not need to be a place you keep a potted plant or your library books. Let your air filter do its job and it will do its job quite well for you. The more you follow the instructions, the better a job it will do for you.
