Does your teen have allergies or asthma? A great way to help them feel more comfortable is to put an air filter in their room. But this can be even more challenging when your teen is messy or disorganized. Air filters are expensive and sensitive machines – many parents are then concerned that because their teen can’t take care of other belongings they won’t be able to take good care of an air filter. There are many reasons you should help your messy teen manage an air filter.

Many teens go through a period of being messy. Whether they have hectic schedules or are feeling rebellious – their room seems to be a safe place to express themselves. This messy period simply doesn’t last forever. Quite often, a teen realizes that being messy is costing them more time and energy – and it just makes more sense to be better organized. Your teen will probably outgrow this messy period – and likely in a shorter time than you think they will.

Adding an air filter purifier is a vote of confidence. Giving them an air filter machine to care for is an implicit message saying, “I trust you to take care of this.” Any teen would know you wouldn’t do this if you didn’t think they could take care of it. So simply by giving them the air filter you are encouraging them not to be messy. To take better care of their things.

Teach them how to take care of the air filter. Some messy teens simply don’t know how to care for things. Show your teen not to stack things on top of an air filter and how to change the air filter refills every few months as needed. Show them this machine needs to be near the wall but not right up against it so the air can flow behind and around the machine. Getting them interested in the machine will help them take better care of it.

After a few days, ask your teen how they are feeling. If they are sleeping better or just feel differently. The air filter is cleaning the air and they may notice they are going to sleep quicker because they are breathing deeper or they are sleeping sounder. Or they feel more relaxed because they are breathing better, cleaner air. As your teen realizes this machine is helping them, they will know it is important to care for it.

Every parent probably wonders if this attitude will carry over into the rest of their messy room and belongings. While your teen may never be a neat freak who irons their socks, they will probably realize that taking care of their belongings is important. And as they see they are feeling better with thanks to their air filter they see how one of their belongings adds great value to their life. To not have it would be very frustrating and disappointing. So taking care of it is just part of daily life – just like keeping your room neat and clean.

Many children suffer from allergies or asthma. Giving your child an air filter can be an excellent idea. When your child has an air filter in their room, you’ll know that they are breathing just a bit easier. An air filter removes irritants like pollen and dust from the air. Isn’t it wonderful knowing you can provide your allergic child with cleaner air to breathe?

Adding an air filter to their room can help them to sleep deeper and easier. How often are parents frustrated with children who just won’t sleep? Whether it seems they wont settle down or just aren’t ready to go to bed, it can be hard to get them to go to sleep. And any parent can have great sympathy for an allergic child. But what a change when you add an air filter to your allergic child’s room. The allergic child is suddenly breathing cleaner air and can breathe much better. This means it is easier for them to take deep breaths that lead to gentle and restful sleep. Their sleep is also deeper and more restorative. So you’ll have the experience of them waking up in the middle of the night less often. What a pleasure it is to have your allergic child to sleep through the night!

Every allergic child it seems catches colds or bronchitis easily. This can be so frustrating to watch and experience. No one likes to watch their child suffer. But adding an air filter can often mean that your child suffers for less time. When your child breaths air that is filtered, it can remove germs from the air. If they have a cold or bronchitis, it seems that they recover quicker. If you have a family member who is sick then the chances of that allergic child of getting sick are less likely.

Many children with asthma find they are bothered by things like cigarette or perfume that a child can’t control. With an air filter, you are more prepared for out of town guests that could be staying in your home. These odors often trickle through the house and while you can always ask someone to put out a cigarette or not to put on perfume, someone who is a smoker or often wears perfume will carry these odors with them. Your child will be more comfortable and feel less allergic with their own air filter. An excellent idea if you have a regular family member or friend like this is to consider getting an air filter for the guest room to help clear that air too. That will make your child even more comfortable, as it clears the guest’s air also. You can consider getting an air filter for the family room or living room too. These are excellent choices for company and are smart moves when you have company and a child with allergies or asthma.

An air filter is not a magic bullet. The parent and child still need to manage a child’s allergies and asthma well. But an air filter can remove a great deal of the child’s suffering. This can make them feel better. Whether during the day playing with their toys or at nighttime and trying to sleep, the air filter is working. Best of all, the air filter is peaceful and quiet making very little noise. So it isn’t a noisy machine that will keep your child up with a lot of fuss. A child simply won’t notice the air filter very much, except that they feel better. Isn’t that great?

Is your child having a sleepover? This is a fun and exciting time. Many children enjoy having a friend sleepover at their house for the weekend or an evening. It is a time to play games, do activities and become better friends. But if your child has an air filter, you’ll want to be sure their friend understands how important the air filter is.

A friend that sleeps over is likely a close friend. That’s not an activity to do with a new friend. So the friend probably knows your child has allergies or asthma. Many children today have allergies or asthma. The friend may know a bit about allergies or asthma from their other friends, brothers or sisters or family members. While they may not have seen an air filter, they may very well understand the need for it.

Explain what setting the air filter should have and why it needs that setting. That the air filter may make a tiny bit of noise but that is okay. Some children when they sleep over are startled by a different home making different noises. But if something is explained to them, they feel comforted. Explaining this ahead of time will make them feel much better.

Tell the friend that the air filter makes the air cleaner so your son or daughter finds it easier to breathe. You don’t have to go into great detail about air quality, but most children will understand that children with allergies or asthma have trouble breathing. So a machine that makes air easier to breathe makes a lot of sense.

Let the friend know not to put a drink, snack or anything on the machine. That they shouldn’t knock into the machine or play in front of it to possibly tip it over. That the machine basically isn’t a toy. Explaining this in simple terms that are easy for any child to understand is very helpful. Let them know where in the room they could put down a snack or a drink or where they should play. This way they will know exactly what they can do.

The friend may think the air filter is a little “weird” or “odd” at first but remind your child that they don’t have one so this is a different experience for them. Let them tell the friend that they sleep better and breathe easier with the machine. As the friend sleeps over, they may sleep deeper and sounder than they have slept in awhile. That alone may make them realize how great having an air filter is.

As summer comes to an end this only means one thing for allergy and asthma sufferers: the beginning of the fall allergy season! Are you ready? For some allergy and asthma sufferers, the fall allergy season can be even tougher than the heat and humidity of summer – or the high pollen count of spring. One great tool to beat the fall allergy season is your home air purifier.

Using an air filter regularly can help keep you comfortable during fall allergy season. If ragweed and other fall allergens make you wheeze, sneeze and sniff – you want your air to be as clean and filtered as possible. Ragweed and other fall allergens can come into your home – in your hair, on your clothing and on your pets! Take the time to wash your hair daily, remove your jacket or sweater (wash regularly – ideally in hot water) and to groom your pets regularly to remove fall allergens. This can help your air filter do a good job for you this fall allergy season.

Your air filter can do a lot for you this fall. As the temperatures cool, people tend to spend more time indoors. Outdoor activities are popular but most spend the majority of their time indoors. Keep extra air filter refills available, ready to install if your air filter needs one this season. A fresh air filter refill can make a great difference in the performance of your air filter.

If your allergies are worse than before, check with your allergist or doctor about remedies. Allergy shots or antihistamines can be quite helpful to many who suffer during this season – when prescribed under a doctor’s care. In some areas of the U.S.A., the fall allergy season can be severe and allergy and asthma sufferers must use everything available to them to feel comfortable.

Remember that simply vacuuming and dusting your house regularly – especially during allergy season – can make a big difference in the performance of your machine. During allergy season, your air filter is working hard to remove ragweed and other allergens from the air. If your house is also dusty, it has to work even harder to clean the air. Why not help your air filter where you can by vacuuming and dusting regularly – try once or twice a week during heavy allergy season. You’ll find your air filter can manage allergy season well when you work with it as a team!
