Summer is one of the most popular times to go on vacation. And whether you are spending a week at the shore or in a cabin by the mountains, we bet you’d like to take your air filter with you! It’s easy to take your air filter with you on summer vacation and a great way to keep your breathing comfortable and easy.

One of the biggest challenges of going to any new environment for an allergy or asthma sufferer if you wonder if something is going to trigger your allergies. Whether it is too much dust, a little mold in the air or someone’s pet that was staying there – a potential allergen could be lurking to bother you. Certainly not something any of us like to deal with on summer vacation.

If you are renting a house for vacation, it is very easy to bring your air purifier filter. Consider asking the people you are renting from if you can plug in your air filter. Air filters don’t use a lot of electricity so they likely won’t have any reason to say no to your request. Simply add it to your supplies when you pack the car. Remember to bring an extra air filter in case you wish to change it. Protect your air filter during travel by wrapping it securely, either in a box or surrounding it with towels or other protective padding.

If you are staying in a hotel or other location, you may want to ask if you can bring it. Some locations may be curious if you appear, ready to plug something in. But if you have gotten permission ahead of time to bring it, then it will be smooth sailing the whole way. It is far easier to ask ahead than it is to stand at check in and ask someone to consider your request.

If you are staying in someone’s home, you can probably bring your air filter. Ask them ahead of time. You are doing your host a kindness by bringing your air filter as an allergy or asthma sufferer because it means you will be more comfortable – and most hosts worry about their guests comfort. Ask them where you should plug it in.

Today’s air filters are comfortable and convenient. You can count on them to clean a large room and to be powerful and strong. They are not troublesome to carry with you on a vacation. While most of us don’t like to think of carrying our air filter everywhere, the thought of living without our air filters once we have one is often unimaginable.

The first time I brought my air filter on vacation my family fussed a little bit. One family member thought I was being a little particular by bringing it with me. But I knew that I would sleep so much better by having it with me. And I was glad that I did. We stayed in a cottage by the shore, with a bit of a mold problem. While everyone else was okay and just complained about the smell – I am allergic to mold. Without that air filter, I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy my vacation fully. With my antihistamine and the air filter, I could stay on vacation and spend time with my family.

No matter where you go, enjoy your vacation and we hope that you breathe a little easier with your air filter by your side.

Clumps of yellow pollen on a flower head.

Image via Wikipedia

Looking out the window I see the tiny green leaves of my daffodils peeping through. A happy sign of spring I’ve been looking forward to, especially with all of this snow. But if you have asthma or allergies, spring is a season we must always prepare for. It’s the season when we allergy and asthma sufferers face weeks of pollen. Are you ready for spring?

Your air filter purifier can be a big help to you during spring allergy season, but you’ve got to help it help you. Not being prepared for spring allergy season will only overwork your already hardworking air filter machine. Your air filter machine is prepared to work hard for you – but expecting it to do more than its fair share simply isn’t practical planning. Now is the time to do some easy spring cleaning and get ready for the coming spring season.

If you suffer from pollen allergies or asthma then you know that pollen can be tracked into the house. So it is not just the pollen outdoors, it is the pollen that can come indoors. Take the time now to be sure your vacuum cleaner is in top notch working order. Get extra vacuum cleaner bags if your model uses them. And now is the perfect time for a top to bottom thorough vacuuming. Take the time to vacuum every room in your home, to remove excess dust or any potential allergens. You want to be ready for the coming pollen.

Check your air filter machine and be sure it is working properly. Can you use all of the different speeds and settings? Now is also the time to order extra air filters, before spring allergy season is upon us. Don’t be shy about spending a few dollars for rush shipping. Better to spend five or ten dollars more to have the air filter when you need them, than to suffer needlessly for a week or more while waiting for your new air filter to arrive.

While spring is warmer, many of us wear a light jacket or sweater during the season. To keep the pollen down, wash your coat and/or sweater regularly. Pollen will fall on you and your clothing. If you are wearing something regularly, pollen will stick around and fall in your home, causing you further aggravation.

Finally consider getting a second air filter purifier machine to make spring much more comfortable. Most of us find spring comfortable with our air filter machines but imagine if you had another air filter machine for the living room, den, home office or other room you use regularly? You’d probably enjoy your home even more.

The BioGS SPA-421A Ultra Quiet HEPA Air Purifier by RabbitAir is a good choice.

I Heart Clean Air

With spring allergy season here, many allergy and asthma sufferers may be thinking about getting an air filter purifier for the first time. If you are thinking about getting an air filter, you’ll be pleased to know that these machines are quieter, more convenient and even more powerful than ever. Best of all you’ll enjoy better breathing, a higher quality of air, improved vitality, sounder sleep, stronger focus and deeper relaxation during the day. Yes, an air filter has many benefits. But buying one may seem kind of overwhelming to some. There are so many to choose from. And they do so many different things. How do you pick the right one? Let’s talk about some things you should know before you go shopping for that first air filter.

Air filters work by cleaning the air in a location rapidly a certain number of times every hour. Now different machines will give you a different number – but often the number is high (like 10 times an hour) as these machines work quickly. The key to remember always with an air filter is that they will only clean a certain space according to width and length. That they just can’t clean any size of a location. So you need to get the air filter machine ideal for the space you need it for. You don’t need to get a “bigger” machine for the area you want, thinking it will do a better job. Air filters today are quite strong and the machine suited for your specific area will work perfectly. Simply measure the room or area and use these measurement as you go shopping. If you don’t have a tape measure. Walk the room with average steps and most of your steps are about a foot in length for a 6 foot or shorter person. if you are taller, consider your steps to be larger and adjust the measurements.

Some air filters purify some irritants and other do not. This confuses shoppers as some think that an air filter is an air filter. But there are quite a number of different machines available today. Some air filters will remove pollen from the air. Others will remove mold spores and dust. Some can remove bacteria. Others can remove smoke (like cigarette smoke). Check the label or box to see exactly what this machine does and if it meets your needs. Each person has certain desires for their air filter. The person allergic to cats may want it to remove pet dander and not be concerned with other needs. Someone whose mother in law smokes and visits occasionally may want it to remove smoke. Or someone with severe allergies may want it to do everything. Again, you want to find the air filter machine that meets your needs. The best way to do this is to read the label.

Your air filter machine is going to work best when you follow the instructions. This sounds very simple but you’d be surprised at the folks who just ignore this. If your air filter’s instructions say to replace the air filter every three months, then follow this guideline. It is there to assist you with your allergy or asthma. If your air filter machine has certain suggestions about where to put it, then follow these guidelines. Some air filters will say not to put anything on top of them. Your air filter is a busy machine, working at purifying the air. It does not need to be a place you keep a potted plant or your library books. Let your air filter do its job and it will do its job quite well for you. The more you follow the instructions, the better a job it will do for you.

If you have allergies or asthma your doctor or friends may have suggested you consider getting a HEPA air purifier (HEPA air filter). Perhaps you have friends and family with allergies that just love their HEPAs and now you are wondering how one can help you. Or your doctor has suggested one and you are questioning if it will really make a difference. Well hundreds of thousands of allergy and asthma sufferers each year turn to HEPA air filters to help them. This can be an ideal solution for many. Let’s talk about a couple of ways to tell if a HEPA air filter is for you:

Even on allergy and asthma medication I still suffer from my allergies/asthma. This is an important thing to notice. If your doctor has put you on medication and you still suffer, adding a HEPA air filter can be an excellent next step. Sometimes the quality of air you are breathing can be the issue. Now you CAN improve the quality of the air you breathe simply by vacuuming and dusting regularly (like 1 to 2x a week) but this is often because with today’s vacuums they already have a HEPA filter and you are cleaning that dust and then breathing very clean air. Adding a HEPA air filter on top of this cleaning routine will clean the air your breathe overall.

I have pets in my home and suffer from allergies. This is another thing to consider. Often our pets do things outdoors like roll in fall leaves, sleep on a bed of flowers or run through a pile of branches – all great sources of sneeze and itchy creating pollen! We know we can’t control what our pets do. But adding a HEPA air filter can often help to purify the air as they come into the house bearing pollen as they do. Brushing out your pets’ fur when they come home can also be very helpful.

I have year-round allergies. This is something you can’t ignore. If your allergies aren’t just seasonal you’ve got to combat them all the time. A HEPA filter can work wonders for the  year-round allergy sufferer. Likely you suffer from a combination of both indoor and outdoor allergies, making your vulnerable to allergies wherever you go. With a HEPA filter you are especially purifying your home which will help you breathe clean air at home. This helps your lungs feel clean and strong. It will aid you as you go out into the world and run into allergy sources as you go.

More than one family member suffers from allergies. Now if it isn’t just you who has allergies, a HEPA air filter is a top solution to consider. It wont be just you who benefits but also a parent, child or spouse who feels better as you add the HEPA air filter to your lives. If both of you are allergic to the same things this can sometimes be a sign that you are suffering from poor air quality at home. This isn’t necessarily the sign of poor house cleaning – a lack of vacuuming – sometimes your house is vulnerable to mold or other challenges that you simply can’t control. With the HEPA air filter you keep these allergy sources at bay and everyone can breathe easier.

There are many reasons to choose a HEPA air filter. Quite often after you’ve had it for a week or so you notice that you aren’t as stuffy, your breathing is fuller. Or sometimes you notice that you don’t have the same sleeping complaints. You are sleeping completely through the night or with very deep and sound sleep. That’s the magic of a HEPA filter!

To your good health!

As the holiday season will soon be here, now is the time to think about planning and preparation. You are probably having family or friends to visit for the holidays. It is a fun and enjoyable time to have friends and family visit – but are you truly a gracious host? One of the best things you can provide your friends and family with is a HEPA air filter purifier for your guest room.

If you already enjoy an air filter, you know how well it works and exactly why you like having it. Having your air filter can help keep allergens at bay, ideal for allergy and asthma sufferers. It can also purify the air, letting adults and children sleep sounder and wake refreshed and relaxed. An air filter can remove cigarette smoke, pet dander, cooking smells and so many other things you simply don’t want in your lungs. Once you have an air filter, you truly don’t want to do without.

That’s exactly why a good host provides an air filter for their guests. They know the ease and comfort an air filter gives during the day and night. Not only for allergy and asthma sufferers – but for everyone. An air filter is easy to use, simply show them how to turn it on, off or higher and lower and they’ll know how to operate it. Remind them not to place things on top of the air filter like a soda can or clothing.

One of the best things about providing an air filter in the guest room is knowing that your family and friends will get deep and restful sleep. If they have never experienced using an air filter before, this may be a bit surprising to them. This will be a great treat for them to enjoy a natural and restorative evening breathing purified air. It may even encourage them to get air filters for their home, knowing they’ll always sleep that way. For the allergy or asthma sufferer, they will be especially touched you have an air filter as this means they can breathe easier staying with you. But even for someone without allergies or asthma, an air filter can be a great comfort.

You already know that an air filter is not a luxury, it is a necessity. You use your air filter every day and it brings comfort and great ease to your life. So it would make sense that you would want your guests to enjoy that very same comfort and ease. Giving them this experience in your home is truly being a good host in every sense of the word. The good host always wants their guests to be at home in their home and to feel comfortable during their stay.

The only challenge when you provide an air filter to guests? They may feel so comfortable, they won’t want to leave! But if they are your family and friends, you’ll always be glad to have them stay awhile.
